St. George, Utah. Dec. 9, 2013. Two days after the big snow storm. 8 in. in one day. Second largest snowfall recorded in the last 100 years. I didn’t see him the first day but he showed up on the second day. He was a little bit shyer than the sparrows but I waited him out. This is a little bit out of their territory as the Western Region Field Guide to Birds only shows him in the very southern tip of Nevada, California and eastern and southern Arizona. Sony A77 with a Sony 70/400 zoom at 400. 1/200 F11 ISO 100 from a tripod using a wireless remote shutter release.
