The second Costa Rican International Bird Festival will be held at Selva Verde Lodge & Rainforest Reserve. Selva Verde protects over 500 acres of primary and secondary forest and is home to more than 370 species of birds, including the Keel-billed Toucan, the Sunbittern, and the Great Green Macaw. Located in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí in Costa Rica’s Caribbean lowlands and only 1.5 hours from San José, Selva Verde is one of the most interesting areas for birding in Costa Rica and the world.
In the Sarapiquí region and the San Juan La Selva Biological Corridor, it is possible to see 50 percent of the more than 900 species of birds in Costa Rica.
The funds generated by the Festival will be invested in research and conservation at the Selva Verde Reserve.
