Birders often take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry between Cape May, New Jersey, and Lewes, Delaware. Not only does the ferry provide convenient access to Cape May, but it also crosses through prime habitat for gulls, terns, Northern Gannets, loons, and scoters.
The ferry’s 50th anniversary will include a full day of free, family-friendly festivities, including a classic car show, face painting, appearances by Pirate Pete and live entertainment. Other special events include a dedication ceremony and screenings of WHYY’s Cape May-Lewes Ferry documentary. The festivities continue on-board the ferry with live music.
