Randy Mehoves photographed this Summer Tanager
(Piranga rubra) at Sabine Pass, Texas, in late April, when many migrants stop to refuel after crossing the Gulf of Mexico. Randy, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, used a Canon EOS-1D Mark II N camera and a 500mm lens with a 1.4x teleconverter.
