This Purple Gallinule was balancing on fireflag plants in Delray Beach, Florida.
Michael Wolf, of Pompano Beach, Florida, was visiting the
Wakodahatchee Wetlands, a man-made wetland that serves as a natural water treatment center in Delray Beach. With a boardwalk open to pedestrians, Wolf says the birds, including the Purple Gallinules
(Porphyrio martinica) have become conditioned to nearby human activity. Wolf used a Canon 20D digital SLR and a Canon 500mm IS lens to take the picture.
