An adult Eastern Kingbird delivers a meal to its nestlings at Summit Lake State Park in eastern Indiana. Photographer Jason A. Lee of Greenfield, Indiana, posted the photo to our U.S. and Canada Gallery.
The nest was in an area accessible only by boat. "I beached my kayak in some thick aquatic vegetation that was at the surface of the water for added stability for this shot," Jason says. "I pre-focused my camera where the perch and the nest merge, and waited for the adult to fly to the nest. It took about seven tries to get this photo. I can't wait for next season."
He used a Canon 7D with a 400mm f/5.6 lens. See more of his photos on Flickr.
