Rufous-necked Hornbill

A Rufous-necked Hornbill flies near the outskirts of the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary in Darjeeling, India, on March 18, 2012. Debapratim Saha shot the photo with a Canon 7D and a 500mm f4 lens and posted it to our World Gallery.

He says he found at least four pairs of the birds "after prolonged and thorough research." The species is listed as Vulnerable by BirdLife International due to rapid forest clearing and "intense hunting pressure." You can see more of Debapratim's photos at India Nature Watch.
