Tufted Coquette

Daniel N. Kucij of South Burlington, Vermont, photographed this Tufted Coquette at the Asa Wright Nature Centre in Trinidad.

The coquette Lophornis ornatus was displaying on a branch a few feet from Kucij's cottage porch. The species is found from eastern Venezuela and Trinidad south to northern Brazil.

Kucij used a Nikon N70 camera, Nikkor AF Zoom 70-300mmf/4-5.6D ED lens, and FujiChrome Superia Xtra 800 film.
