Rufous-tailed Hummingbird

A Rufous-tailed Hummingbird feeds from a Stachytarpheta flower in Costa Rica. Doug Hassing of Tallahassee, Florida, captured the shot.

The hummingbird (Amazilia tzacatl) is common at flowers in Costa Rican backyards, especially in the Central Plateau and San Jose. Doug photographed it in December in the town of La Fortuna with a Nikon D70 camera.
