Joan Vaught of White, Georgia, took this photo of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris).

She writes: "I live four miles into the woods. For the past three years, I have fed and taken pictures of my hummingbirds on the deck. This year at any given time I have had 10 to 20 hummingbirds. This has given me an awesome insight into these great little birds. It has been something else."

She used a Sony CD 1000 to take the photograph.
