Nelson and Marlin Garcia captured this Blue Jay on film as snow was falling in their backyard in Selkirk, New York.

They took the photo through the window that overlooks their bird feeders. They got the shot with a Minolta D-Image Z1 digital camera and no flash.

The Garcias had a lot of company watching Blue Jays (Cyanocitta cristata) this winter. In fact, more Blue Jays were reported in New York (5,031) than in any other state in this year's Great Backyard Bird Count.
