Our new Photo of the Week shows a family of Barn Owls perched on a windowsill of an old brick barn on the private Holkham Estate in the county of Norfolk, England. Rob Haynes took the photo in July 2013. The male is at left, the female at right, and their nearly full-grown juvenile is in the center, he tells us.

“I had been photographing this family for around eight weeks,” Haynes says. “They had gotten quite used to me being around, and this was the first opportunity to get to see and shoot all three in the same window.”

The barn “has been set aside purely as a refuge for Barn Owls and other wildlife,” he notes. Owls have been breeding in the building for at least 50 years.

Haynes used a Nikon D300 and a Sigma 300mm lens.
