George Archibald, co-founder of the International Crane Foundation, frequent BirdWatching contributors Noah Strycker and Larry Ditto, and Joan Garland, ICF’s education outreach coordinator, are featured speakers, but everyone knows the real stars of this long-running show are the famous Whooping Cranes. Southwest Florida Burrowing Owl Festival

Highlights will be lectures about the Burrowing Owl and other nature-orientated topics, hikes to observe the varied habitats and wildlife at Rotary Park, and guided bus tours to observe Burrowing Owls. Festival website.
California Duck Days
Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, Davis, California
Participants will enjoy a dozen field trips to sites around the region; workshops on identifying waterfowl, building Wood Duck boxes, and training dogs; falconry demonstrations; and a large mobile aquarium filled with local fish. Festival website.
