Our new photo of the week is Greg McLemore’s image of an American Avocet perfectly reflected in the water. Greg, a member of our galleries who lives in Las Vegas, took the photo in August 2013 at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve in Henderson, Nevada, and posted it to our U.S. and Canada Gallery.
“I watched a group of avocets feeding in one of the ponds and slowly positioned myself to make this shot,” he says. “Due to low light I had to use ISO 1600 and 6.3 aperture on my lens to get the shot handheld. I was shooting from a raised deck, so I was able to get a nice reflection of the bird.”
He used a Nikon D7100 and a Tamron 200-500mm lens.
