A female Red-winged Blackbird feeds a chick while another begs for a bite. Ed Mattis of Coral Springs, Florida, took the photo in late May at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, a popular spot for birdwatching and photography in Delray Beach. He shot the photo with a Pentax K-5 camera and a Sigma 70-200mm lens.

Ed posted the photo to our U.S. and Canada gallery on May 31 and uploaded subsequent photos of the nest on June 5 and June 9.
