Rufous Hummingbird

Subscriber Jeff Thill photographed this oncoming female Rufous Hummingbird in September 2010 in his backyard in Sedona, Arizona.

"She was the dominant female Rufous guarding the feeders and dive-bombed all the other hummers that tried to feed," Jeff says. "She did this all day. I sat below one of the feeders trying to get a shot of her approach. In the photo, she had just made a U-turn to come back for another attack."

He used a Nikon D90 and a 70-200mm lens.
