Great Horned Owl

Forum member Brad Watson of Portland, Oregon, was on his way to a photo blind in south Texas before sunrise on October 12, 2011, when he took this photo of a Great Horned Owl in silhouette. He posted it to our
U.S. and Canada Gallery.
"I slowed the truck to a crawl and was able to get close enough to capture this image," he says. "I didn't immediately think 'Halloween,' but when I looked at the image on my camera afterward, it seemed appropriate for the season."
Brad used a Nikon D300S and a Nikkor 200-400mm f/4 VR lens with a 1.7x teleconverter. You can see more of his photos on his
