A Tree Swallow pauses on the edge of a pipe in this photo by Inge Curtis of Williamsburg, Virginia.
Inge reports that the bird “made a nest in the pipe of the davit on my pier. It flies into the pipe and then gingerly backs out. It is wonderful to watch. Such a gorgeous little bird!” And it wasn’t the only swallow in the neighborhood. Inge has a Purple Martin house on the same pier that is home to nesting martins.
She took the photo with a Canon 7D and a 300mm lens.
