Red-bellied Woodpecker

Helena Reynolds of Jackson, Louisiana, shot this great photo of a Red-bellied Woodpecker at a feeder in her front yard.

"The suet feeder had fallen during the night so he was having to stretch for the sunflower seeds," Helena tells us. "His tongue obviously helped with the stretch. It was very cute to watch."

Her feeders are right outside her front door and "provide hours of entertainment and photo opportunities. It is just a matter of waiting for the birds to do something picture-worthy, which actually happens quite a lot."

Helena used a Canon 5D and a 500mm lens.
