Subscriber and forum member Lora Render of San Antonio, Texas, was practicing taking pictures with her new Canon EOS 50D camera and 100-400mm lens in February 2010 when she noticed this Orange-crowned Warbler
(Vermivora celata) and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet
(Regulus calendula) getting agitated with one another over a suet log.
“I was waiting for the flashing red to appear on the kinglet’s head, but instead I managed to capture the orange crown on the warbler,” Lora says. “The only other time I ever see the orange color is usually when a bird is bathing.”
