Ken Conger saw this Snail Kite at the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Florida.

Ken was observing a distant perch when the bird (Rostrhamus sociabilis) unexpectedly landed nearby. He used a Canon EOS 1D Mark IIn camera, 400mm f/2.8 lens, and 1.4x teleconverter. The raptor is listed as an endangered species in Florida but is not generally threatened within its extensive range in Mexico and Central and South America.
