Matthew Frederick saw this Peregrine Falcon outside a 20th-floor office window in Pittsburgh.
The one-year-old female falcon
(Falco peregrinus) was only inches from the glass, and it remained for more than an hour. Matthew took the photo in July of 2007 with his Canon Powershot SD450, a pocket-size point-and-shoot digital camera. The red brick building in the background is the historic William Penn Hotel.
