Harriet Holland saw these Brown Pelican chicks at St. Charles Bay near Rockport, Texas.
The chicks (Pelecanus occidentalis)
bear a strong resemblance to fictional creatures from outer space, but you won't find them too far from the coastlines of the United States, Mexico, Central America, and northern South America.
