Harriet Holland saw these Brown Pelican chicks at St. Charles Bay near Rockport, Texas.
The chicks
(Pelecanus occidentalis) bear a strong resemblance to fictional creatures from outer space, but you won't find them too far from the coastlines of the United States, Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. Harriet took the picture with a Canon 20D and a 100-400mm zoom lens.
