Tree Swallow

Published: July 31, 2006
This Tree Swallow had a mouthful of bugs when spotted by Jonathan Morgan in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Jonathan Morgan paddled his kayak to a small lagoon near some nesting Tree Swallows (Tachycineta bicolor) at the Twin Lakes Nature Preserve in Kalamazoo. He said he saw evidence of at least 20 pairs of breeding swallows, which were bringing mouthfuls of abundant, fresh insects to their nests.
